 The issue would seem to be whether potential offense was purposely ignored.  E.g., blacks say "nigger" all the time, but *you* can't, simply because you *know* you can't.  So, Mrs. Goldstein won't be offended when your 5-year-old wishes her a "Merry Christmas", or even when *you* do if she thinks you're fresh off the boat...

I truly wish your lot would STOP taking offence on behalf of other people. The world would get dramatically better if you did. Give people their own voice and agency and let THEM express offence if THEY feel it. And if they don't, shut the fuck up and let it be.
