I remember the network wanting to do that in the stock footage of the city
from the opening of FRIENDS, but the show resisted.

 
I dislike when they do that with images or music. Leave things as they
are. Initially there might be some pain over the image but eventually
it will just be a reminder of what was and what happened, but life
goes on.

That would be like having a time travel show where they go back to the
90s and remove the WTC buildings from NYC. It's an integral part of
the history of NYC and removing it does a disservice to the WTC and
it's impact on the city.
