Another morning meeting. Again, I didn't really prioritize "watching stuff". But did get through soaps and more "Rings of Power":
soaps: Y&R - Tue's ep. Nick shares his "It's all Ian Ward and an accomplice" theory with Chance and Summer. Jordan says that she has had it with Ian Ward, and their partnership is through! - Jordan then reveals herself to dumb Claire. Adam again pitches getting back together to Chelsea who wants none of it.
GH - Wed's ep. Lizzie and Lucky intend to surveil Cyrus, but Cyrus gets hauled in for questioning by Anna, thanks to Josslyn, but then Josslyn confronts Cyrus and blows it. Carly begs John Brennan for access to an international burn unit. Sonny and then Jason go to Tracy to try to retrieve the children, but Tracy gets to Jason and they fail. Alexis tries to work Drew over to get custody of Scout from him. The football game goes wrong, worrying Trina, and destroying Cody's chance of winning his bet.
The Rings of Power (Prime) - Ep's #2.5 & 2.6. This seems to be going somewhere this season, but I still have a lot of reservations...
Sauron messes with the heads of the ring crafters, esp. Celebrimbor. Meanwhile, Durin is convinced that the dwarvish ring for his father is corrupting him (it is!!), though it did help the king restore light to the city. (The other 6 dwarvish rings haven't even been distributed yet...) Not much progress with "The Stranger", who was set up to find his staff before rescuing the halflings. Adar and Galadriel try to forge a deal/partnership with each other, but Galadriel figures out that this is just what Sauron wants - Adar doesn't listen to her. More Numenor stuff which isn't worth retelling. Elrond basically wasn't in these episodes, for some reason.
Just two more episodes to go, and then on to "On Call".
I also saw some of "The Running Man" on one of the Showtimes yesterday - I had clearly forgotten about the beginning of this film!
You mean when the Butcher of Bakersfield murdered all of those innocent civilians who just wanted some food? How could you forget that?
There's a remake on the way this year. I'll revisit the original then.
What did you watch?
I often type of my comments in real time as I'm watching something, but I don't always get to post them in real time. The following comments I typed last night before I heard about the passing of David Lynch. I was on the fence if I should edit these comments or not, but these were my original thoughts at the time and I decided not to self edit. No offense to any fans, I just didn't like the two movies I watched.
Last night I watched:
Eraserhead (TCM) 1977, I guess movie, written, directed, produced, edited, music composed by, art director, and special effects by David Lynch. I don't know who did the catering. I never saw this, I think it's a movie, before now. But I heard about it and saw the poster. I assumed it was supposed to be good. Sure, David Lynch only ever made one movie that I liked, but "Dune" is a favorite, so how bad could this one be? I'm not sure if it has a plot or not, but the closest thing I can call a plot involves a man who has a high-top fade whose girlfriend gives birth to a creature of some sort. And um, I think that's pretty much it. I mean there was other really stuff that happened, but I lack the words to describe it. Can I have that 90 minutes of my life back?
This is an actual scene from the whatever I watched:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivqvobC9sm8Blue Velvet (TCM) 1986 movie written and directed by David Lynch. Kyle MacLachlan along with half the cast of "Dune" star in this weird flick about a young man (MacLachlan) who finds a severed ear on the ground and then decides to investigate the matter himself leading him into the strange world of a David Lynch movie. I saw this once before on TV years ago. I'm not sure if I watched the whole movie or not, but did recall I didn't like it. But with two David Lynch movies sitting on my DVR I figured I'd give it a second chance. And I still don't like it. It wasn't as mind numbingly bad as "Eraserhead", but it still wasn't very good with its nonsensical plot and being weird just for the sake of being weird.
That being said, while I didn't care for either movie, particularly Easerhead, I know others have enjoyed them over the years. And "Dune" remains one of my all time favorite movies.
