The Biden administration argued that Chinese ownship of the TikTok
platform is a threat to national security. The Supreme Court agreed. In
a unanimous ruling, the law banning Chinese ownership was not found to
be unconstitutional.

During Trump's first presidency, he made that very national security
argument and lobbied members of Congress to support the law. Now it
appears he may not enforce the ban.

TikTok argued its own free speech liberty was infringed. However, it's
those who post to the platoform who are literally publishers themselves
don't have a First Amendment right to choose where and how to publish.

I'm so confused, for distribution is part of publishing amd, if
distribution is infringed upon, we used to call that censorship. Well,
no more.

I wonder how the ban will be enforced. The government already said it won't
require Apple, Google, et al, to remotely delete the app off users' phones and
tablets, so if the app is still there, when it launches, will it not still
connect to the TikTok servers, wherever they may be?

The law didn't ban any of this, I thought. In any event, Biden won't do
anything on the 19th to enforce the law, leaving it all up to Trump.
My understanding is that if you have the app it will continue to work.
Much like some people have already switched over to the Chinese
version of the app. Which shows how much many people worry about the
security of the application. Here China, have all the data I give to
TikTok. You can see which sort of videos I like.
