It was a joke. Sheesh. The stereotypes about leftists being dour,

Hmm, seems more like that's a trait of the right given the number of
comics that appear to be on the right versus those that appear to be
on the left.

It's not the Right that's chasing comedians off college campuses and other
venues because of wokeness. Everyone from Jerry Seinfeld to Jay Leno to Bill
Maher to Dave Chappelle say they no longer book gigs on college campuses (or
anywhere that the audience is likely to lean heavily Left) because the woke
speech police turn their sets into Maoist struggle sessions.

According to the cultural gatekeepers on the Left, we're not really supposed
to have funny comedy anymore. That's a relic of unenlightened yesteryear
Comedy that makes you laugh has been canceled because it almost always offends
someone.

The goal of modern leftist-approved comedy isn't to elicit laughter. It's to
elicit clapter. You don't laugh at a 'joke'; you clap approvingly because the
comedian's social commentary is just soooo true.

And the grand dame of this new form of unfunny comedy is Hannah Gadsby, a
rotund Australian lesbian whose entire act consists of telling dreary sad sack
anecdotes of her experiences living amongst all the unwoke neanderthals, while
continually using the phrase "As a lesbian...", lest you forget her place in
the intersectional status hierarchy. And for this, she is hailed as a comedic
genius by the latte-sippers at the New York Times and Washington Post and
given one Netflix special after another, despite the ratings for them lurking
at the bottom of the list.
