Yesterday was my weekly "work from home day", and in the morning I went to get a smog check, and in the afternoon I did work, etc. So once again, the only thing I got through was soaps. However, next work week is a "half week", so I'm hoping to take Thur and Fri of next week to just watch either movies, or to binge streaming TV series (likely "Wheel of Time")...
soaps: Both Wed's ep's.
DOOL - Shawn and JJ question Kristen about EJ's shooting and being in possession of a gun, but don't really get much of anywhere, esp. afer Melinda Trask shows up as Kristen's lawyer. Belle sits by EJ's bedside and has a fantasy conversation with him, where she admits she "loves" EJ - at the end... Sami walks in and chastises Belle!! Xander and Philip conspire with Old Man Shin to take over DiMera from the DiMeras!... Did stuff with Holly and Tate happen this epie?! - I think it did, but it wasn't very important.
GH - Pathetic - Alexis tries to turn the whole thing around on Ava, claiming Ava "tampered with evidence" (I think the only real possible charge would be obstruction of justice), but Ava doesn't take the bait and threatens to tell Molly that Kristina almost killed Molly's father instead of the cops - Ava then gives Alexis 48(?) hours to decide whether to knuckle under to Ava's blackmail or not. Bah - Kristina forces Sonny to tell Dante about his heart condition. More boring stuff with Natalia, this time with her estranged son. And, pathetic: Brook Lynn buries the hatchet with a contrite Lois (Lois doesn't deserve forgiveness here!), and Lois puts the ball back in Brook Lynn's court as to whether Brook Lynn should reveal the truth about her long-lost son or not. Lulu admits to Cody that she's still in love with Dante, but Cody counsels her to not tell Dante this just yet.
What did you watch?
I watched:
Black Mirror (Netflix) - "Common People" - Season 7, episode 1. A teacher (Rashida Jones) has a brain tumor, but her life is saved thanks to a company that offers cloud storage brain replacement technology for a monthly subscription fee. And the company not only offers the basic brain function subscription plan, for more money, you can upgrade to the plus brain function abilities, without advertisements. This episode is basically mocking streaming services like Netflix and does a pretty good job of doing it with a dark Black Mirror twist.
Bête Noire - Season 7, episode 2. So this one I went into without a plot summary and for the first half I was bored and a little confused about what was actually happening. Basically it started with a woman working for a company and someone she knew in high school showed up one day. Then the woman got a job there, even though there weren't any job openings, until suddenly there was an opening. Minor things like that kept happening, but they were so minor that I didn't catch the significance at first. Then by the second half it all started to become clear, and the episode got a lot better. I can't say more without spoilers, but the second half definitely made up for the first half.
I forgot to mention from the other day, I watched "USS Callister" from season 4, episode 1. This is a great episode that is basically a horrific parody of Star Trek. A psycho played by Jesse Plemons has technology that allows him to copy people and insert them into virtual reality game system where he forces them to pretend to be characters from his favorite sci-fi show. A sequel to this episode is airing this new season.
