I have been labouring under the impression that Trump and Netanyahu were
on good terms and had similar views about what should be done in the
Middle East in general but this video has me wondering what's gone wrong:

It's interesting reading the comments under the video with (apparent)
leftists expressing enthusiasm about Trump but fearing that their heads
will explode if they do.

Maybe the best comment about Trump is the observation that the most
consistent thing about Trump is his inconsistency.
Son-in-law Jared Kushner isn't part of the second Trump administration.
There's no one to speak for the Abraham Accords. The Arab kingdoms that
sucked up to Trump by signing the accords have noticed that they've
gotten no attention from Trump in the second administration. He's
favoring Arab countries that didn't sign them, plus allowed himself to
be pressured by the Saudis to visit Syria and lift sanctions, getting
fuck all out of a country that's been in an active and technical state
of war with Israel since Israel's founding.

Yeah, I really had a problem with lifting sanctions on Syria. The new leader of Syria has already done enough to raise doubts about his sincerity in promising a multi-cultural country where all will be accepted by his slaughter of Alawites along the coast and his threats against the Syrian Druze. He should have been required to "walk the walk", not just "talk the talk" before getting sanctions relief or, failing that, Trump had better be planning to reimpose sanctions very quickly once it becomes obvious that the new leader retains an Islamist core philosophy that is NOT tolerant of the other cultures in his country.

It is my contention that the French demanded that border during the
Mandatory period to create unnecessary tension. The border cut off the
Jordan River from its source. The British were fools to agree to it
without an agreement on joint water development.
I had no idea Trump called Netanyahu to Washington to humiliate him. I
heard that on the news yesterday.
I suppose this will become clearer in time. I'm not sure if it will be entirely to anyone's liking once we get clarity.
