N.Y. BILL WOULD OUTLAW SHARING OF ONLINE BLUEPRINTS FOR MACHINE GUN
CONVERSION KITS: DA BRAGG
Officials are working to clamp down on illegal guns by outlawing the
sharing of digital blueprints that allow people to 3D print components
that turn semi-automatic firearms into machine guns.
Okay, lets say this goes through. Now anyone living in NY can't share
blueprints for machine gun conversion kits online with anyone else. If
you live in NJ you can share those same blueprints with anyone
including people living in NY. The same goes for anyone in any other
state or country. So I'm at a loss as to what the point of this bill
is, other than to say they don't like people having machine gun
conversion kit blueprints.
It is already illegal to own a machine gun in the USA
No, it's not. They're just highly regulated. You have to apply for a federal
permit through BATF and then pay all sorts of taxes and fees and let them do a
deep dive into your background. The whole process takes around a year to
complete.
so by all common sense it should be illegal to own anything that has been
converted into
a machine gun as well
Except a FRT doesn't convert anything into a machine gun. The rifle still
fires just one round per trigger pull.
