If you don't want to be shot to death while breaking into someone's home to
steal from them, there's a 100% effective
way of guaranteeing that never happens to you: don't break into people's homes
and steal from them.
That has a smidgen of resonance with "let them eat cake". I don't know that society's ready (yet) to declare open season on petty thieves.
