Over Governor Newsom's objections, Trump federalized and deployed the

that's all they are being used for, I don't see how that usurps
federalism. Newsom is going to court this morning anyway.

Police declared all of downtown Los Angeles "an unlawful assembly area".
Why didn't they just declare a straight-forward curfew? What does that
mean for a building owner trying to get security guards deployed?

Reports I had read indicated there were all of 100 protesters.

That was Friday. Numerous other people began protesting over the next
several days.

In part because of the overboard heavy handed Trump response.

Oh, I agree. Trump and the protestors are two sides of the same coin,
thriving in chaos.

I have to disagree with that.  I admit there are _some_, a small
fraction, who were protesting violently but until Trump sent in military
forces the great majority were protesting peacefully.

I am at a loss as to what you think the disagreement is. There are
people who protest who sincerely believe in free speech/free press, you
know, actual American political values. Then there are those who sew
chaos, vandalize, loot, commit arson, provoke others till they become
violent, make threats, and commit acts of violence themselves.

I see no difference between those stirring the pot hoping for a violent
reaction and Trump himself. Both thrive on chaos.

Furthermore, because there is more liberty in America than any place on
the planet, everyone is responsible for his own behavior. Just because a
third party is trying to provoke a reaction, even if it's a cop who
isn't trying to de-escalate, even if it's a scared kid called into duty
in the National Guard with no counter-riot training, even if it's the
president of the United States, one doesn't need to react violently nor
commit property damage.

This has always been my position, and it applies to the anti-Semites
too, whose violent behavior cannot be blamed on the world turning
against the Jews. They themselves are responsible for choosing to commit
violent acts.
