What Did You Watch?
Still playing the video game, and doing work on the side, so not much serious TV watching yesterday (and, no movies). I did get through:
soaps: DOOL - "Part Two" of John's funeral. In this one the actual funeral service starts. This was OK, I guess. (Today's DOOL ep. was better on this score).
I also left on the "OTA" CBS on for background noise, so I saw B&B, Y&R and "Beyond the Gates" (BtG) - not much to report on these. The most interesting thing is that incredibly cute Luna (played by incredibly cute Lisa Yamada - who would be even cuter without the tattoos!) is becoming completely unhinged and is going to try to kill Steffy (again!!) - 1) how the hell did Luna get out of jail for a *double murder*?!!, and 2) has Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) ever given a second thought as to why so many people hate her guts and want her dead?!!
The Last of Us (Max) - Ep's #2.6 and #2.7, the "season finale".
Yikes.
"House of the Dragon" is another HBO show that also had a pretty terrible second season - the difference is, House of the Dragon's second season wasn't so bad that it drove me away from the show, and I expect that series to rebound.
*This* show, OTOH, is definitely going in the wrong direction.
Ep. #2.6 was a "flashback" episode, and so Joel was the focus. I dunno if they're basing the story order from the video game or not, but this is the episode that should have *opened* the season, not been the penultimate ep!
But this show really goes off the rails in the season finale, ep. #2.7! Um, do they know what it's like to ride in a small boat during a major storm?! The scenes with Ellie in the small boat on Puget Sound during a major storm broke all believability for me, as they didn't show Ellie getting tossed around at all, which is exactly what would happen! (Not to mention, that water is *cold*! Cold enough to kill!!) Then plot silliness happens. Then they leave us with an unforgivable cliffhanger. And *then* they change the focus from Ellie to Abby, the show's most unlikeable character!?! Are they nuts??!!!
After all of this, like Arthur, I'm not even sure I am going to bother with season #3 of this one... [roll]
