Sherlock and Daughter - The Last Dance" - Season finale.  They wrapped
everything up and put a bow on it.  I have one question.  MILD SPOILER.

How and when was Watson rescued?  He was missing the entire season, then
suddenly he was just back.  When the episode was over I went back and
watched the recap, and there was noting in the recap about them suddenly
knowing where Watson was being held.  I don't recall any dialogue or a
scene of him being rescued.  I do recall seeing him about mid way
through, but it wasn't a rescue, he was just already there, and I
assumed it was have been a flashback and didn't give it much thought.
Then at the end of the episode Watson is still there like nothing ever
happened.

At the end of "The Great Fleece" 6/4/2025, both Watson and Mrs. Hudson
were rescued. They weren't exactly rescued. Sherlock was being
manipulated into freeing them instead of pursuing a different objective
of the criminals.

A bigger question is why Mrs. Hudson wasn't in the finale.

Actually, I thought the previous episode was more entertaining than the
rest of the season but the finale was underwhelming.

The big revelation was that none of the conspirators was the mastermind
in the conspiracy and had contrary interests. The writers just can't
plot. I didn't care for the ambassador having so much leverage over
Sherlock that he couldn't be brought to justice, and Dan just didn't
have a goal in mind that made any sense.

Throughout the season, the cleverer stuff was with regard to the
carriages and coffins. I was a bit taken aback that the police chief
turned out to be well aware of the possibility that his phone could be
tapped but simply assumed Sherlock wouldn't figure out a way to do it,
either legally or illegally.

Never really warmed up to Amelia, who was way too smart in later
episodes without having seemed to learn anything. David Thewlis's
Sherlock was decently performed.
