I'm still PO'd with the Vancouver guy who after 4 convictions for
assault / assault with a deadly weapon is on trial for 3 more assaults
and whose lawyer is demanding concurrent sentencing with no
incarceration.
I get the guy has a drug issue and would not mind over much if he was
coupling that sentencing proposal with entrance into a custodial drug
treatment program but NOOOOOO................
(Can you spell "See you next month your honor!"? To me that's the
epitome of "revolving door 'justice'"! Do the victims not deserve
protection AT ALL? And with this record the only genuine protection is
getting him off the street - for a minimum - e.g. no pre-release - for
6-12 months)
This guy sounds like someone who ought to be locked up for at least a decade.
This country is so messed up by all the bleeding-heart justice we've had for the last 10 years. The activist judges have eagerly followed the instructions of the "progressives" in the Liberal Party to give everyone possible bail, even if they commit new offenses while waiting for their trials on their original offenses. It's sheer lunacy. This has caused crime rates to rise alarmingly and offenders to reoffend with impunity. How is that making our country one bit better?
Remember, this is the same party that was working on legislation to jail people pre-emptively over things they MIGHT say in the future. (I feel sure that Carney and his team are working on getting that legislation passed again now that we have a parliament again. Oh wait, they're off for the summer already aren't they, just two or three weeks after returning to Parliament. But I'm sure he's got people drafting that legislation so it's ready for the next parliamentary session.) The Liberals are just like the Conservatives AND Labour in the UK with their desire to imprison anyone who says anything that might be deemed hurtful to someone's feelings and completely indifferent to people who rob, steal or attack people.
