Another one of JarJar Abrams garbage gets cancelled. Maybe Hollyweird is finally learning that he is a completely talentless hack.
'Duster' Canceled After One Season at HBO Max
---------------------------------------------
The 1970s crime series "Duster" has been canceled at HBO Max
after just one season, Variety has confirmed.
The news comes less than a week after the show aired the
Season 1 finale, with "Duster" having originally premiered
on the streamer in May. The series starred Josh Holloway and
Rachel Hilson and hailed from co-creators and executive
producers LaToya Morgan and J.J. Abrams.
"While HBO Max will not be moving forward with a second
season of 'Duster,' we are so grateful to have had the chance
to work with the amazingly talented co-creators J.J. Abrams
and LaToya Morgan, and our partners at Bad Robot and Warner
Bros. Television," HBO Max said in a statement. We are
tremendously proud of this series led by Josh Holloway and
Rachel Hilson and we thank them along with our cast and crew
for their incredible collaboration and partnership."
Thus ends the show's long path to the screen. It was
originally reported to be in development at HBO Max in 2020
under Abrams' & Bad Robot's sizable overall deal with Warner
Bros. It was then ordered to series in 2023. Thus far, it is
the only show to make it to air on HBO Max under Bad Robot's
overall deal, which was originally signed in 2019. Several
others, including a "Justice League Dark" series and a show
inspired by Stephen King's "The Shining," ultimately never
moved beyond development. In fairness, Abrams is also an
executive producer on the animated series "Batman: Caped
Crusader," which was picked up to series at HBO Max before
they ultimately decided not to air it. Instead, the show
moved over to Amazon Prime Video.
"J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan delivered a thrilling,
multi-dimensional crime drama in 'Duster,' with textured
characters that took the audience back to the 1970s in a new
and innovative way," WBTV added. "Those characters were
brought to life by a wonderful team led by Josh, Rachel, and
an extremely talented ensemble cast, along with an expert
crew behind the scenes. We are incredibly proud of the show,
and while we wish this journey could continue, we are
thankful to our partners at HBO Max for the opportunity to
tell Jim and Nina's story."
"Duster" was set in the American Southwest in the 1970s. Per
the official logline, the show "explores the life of a gutsy
getaway driver (Holloway) for a growing crime syndicate that
goes from dangerous to wildly, stupidly dangerous when a
tenacious young agent (Hilson) comes into town hellbent on
taking his crime family down."
The cast also included Keith David, Sydney Elisabeth, Greg
Grunberg, Camille Guaty, Asivak Koostachin, Adriana Aluna
Martinez, and Benjamin Charles Watson. The first two episodes
were written by Abrams and Morgan, while the first two
episodes were directed by and executive produced by Steph
Green. Abrams and Rachel Rusch Rich executive produced for
Bad Robot. Morgan executive produced via TinkerToy
Productions. Warner Bros. Television was the studio.
Deadline first reported the cancellation.
