BOSTON BLUE Recasts Sean Reagan, Taps Mika Amonsen as Danny's Son in
BLUE BLOODS Offshoot

By Nellie Andreeva

Danny Reagan's youngest son Sean will look a little different when he
appears alongside his dad on CBS' upcoming drama series BOSTON BLUE. Mika
Amonsen has been cast as a series regular opposite Donnie Wahlberg on the
BLUE BLOODS offshoot, taking over the role of Sean Reagan.

On Blue Bloods, Sean was played by Andrew Terraciano who recurred
throughout the series' 14-season run. According to sources, the recasting
stems from the character taking a new creative direction on BOSTON BLUE as
he follows the Reagans' career path into law enforcement.

Which means he can't be 350 pounds and inhaling the entire Sunday dinner
anymore.

Meanwhile, the addition of Sean to the offshoot helps explain Danny's move
from his native New York to Boston.

Not really. He has two sons, one of which moved away somewhere long ago and
Danny never even visits, let alone uproots himself and gives up that sweet
NYPD pension and post-retirement bennies for him.
To get Danny, did Bastan have to send a detective in trade?
I don't get this go work at another big city police force at middle age,
retaining your rank thing.
I know a guy who spent 18 years in the St. Thomas (Ontario) Police Department, then he left and joined the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police, the equivalent of a state police in the US) for 12 years before retiring. I asked him if he kept his rank but he said he had to start over from scratch at the bottom of the rank hierarchy. (Mind you, he retired from the OPP at the same rank as he'd left the St. Thomas police so he clearly rose up the ranks considerably quicker than if the OPP was his first policing experience.)
Based on that, I'd be surprised if Danny got to start at the same rank he'd had in the NYPD but what do I know? The rules may be different on your side of the border.
