It is really an excellent movie if you like psychological horror, and a

The first time I saw it, I was not expecting the twist at the end. Bette
Davis invented an all-new movie genre.

Me neither. The ending's incredible, both the twist and the final shot
of Jane dancing on the sand, lost in delusion.

The characterization is incredible, too. Minor characters like Edwin
Flagg and Elvira the maid are still whole people.
