Verily, in article <
UBI20250717@dont-email.me>, did
weberm@polaris.net deliver unto us this message:
While struggling with growing intermidtten Internest issues, I watched:
FAMILY GUY:
"Row v. Wade". Brian wins a boat on "The Price is Right" and decides to sail
to Texas to help women seeking legal abortion.
That's still on? Hunh.
I watched Extinct Animals Encountered by Ice Age Native Americans.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGVOZ1D4GyMIt was pretty good. I've been watching more about the European
prehistory, so some of this was new. One interesting thing about the
late glacial period is that humans succeeded so well with such large
prey.
I finally got some sleep last night, so today we have a more reasonable
amount of ponies.
S09:E12 - The Last Crusade
Scootaloo's parents return to town and announce they're taking her to
Shire Lanka, where they will all live as a family. She and her friends
are upset. Instead of coming to terms with it, they convince her parents
to leave her in Ponyville.
This is just terrible, IMO. Families move; it happens. They could have
handled this positively yet realistically, as they did when Terramar did
the divorce story. Instead, they went with a fantasy. Imagine if
Terramar, instead of learning, had instead forced his parents to remarry
-- that's the level of insanity we've reached here. Some fans regarded
it more as a tribute to the filly trio, and it did work on that level.
S09:E13 - Between Dark and Dawn
Princesses Celestia and Luna want to experience normal life again, so
they start interfering in ponies' daily lives with unwanted assistance.
They're gently corrected and decide to have their fun by going on
vacation, leaving Twilight to have some practice running the kingdom.
They decide to do their entire bucket list on this one vacation, which
exhausts them and sets them at each other's throats.
This was good. There were some silly aspects -- why would someone who
can fly be remotely afraid of ziplining? -- but it was a lot of fun and
had a solid underlying message about both staying in one's lane and
pacing oneself on recreation. There were also some pretty solid jokes
along the lines of "All the times the kingdom's been in danger, and they
finally show up when we're behind on baking?" I give it 8/10. I think
they knew the show was ending and started trying again, though the fans
didn't know it was the end yet.
