I agree. A lot of commenters are fingering "The Lady or the Tiger or the
Lawyer," but "The Bad Old Days" was the one that made me shake my head.
I'm guessing older viewers complained about mouthy Laura henpecking Rob
and making him do her work, so they thought they should respond. I saw
it as an adult in the 80s, and it didn't play well to me.
I get it more now than I did at the time. Some men were probably
disgusted by the sight of Rob clearing the table while Laura washed, as
opposed to reading the paper while she did both. The idea that Rob is
freeing her time so that she can make herself pretty for him... well,
it's a little icky by modern standards, but it's also a reason that
might make sense to someone born in 1920.
