Haven't posted the show yet, but will do so shortly. Meantime, here's
the playlist:

4. SHAKIN’ ALL OVER, Johnny Kidd & The Pirates
My pick as the best British artists record of the pre-Beatles era

6. SCHOOL OF ROCK ‘N’ ROLL, Gene Summers
HUGE record on the London rock 'n' roll circuit and booted to high
heaven in the 70's. I've also seen this on a "Jane" label.

8. HUSHABYE, The Beach Boys
Good but I prefer the Mystics original I think. Talking of which,HMV
over here licenced the Mystics hit from Laurie and marketed it here but
it failed to get much airplay and did not chart.
Unsuprising really since HMV did the really stupid thing of also putting
out a really dire UK cover version--of their own record--by The Dene
Four

9. JUMP CHILDREN, The Flamingos
The version of this in the 1959 "Go Johnny Go" movie was one of the best
things about that film
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COFvEGFzGYc

13. CRYING IN THE CHAPEL, Elvis Presley
One of Elvis' biggest hits here in UK where it was #1 on the chart for
several weeks

15. BOP-A-LENA, Ronnie Self
Famously booted on a "Gustin" label that it was never on in reality. It
was always on Columbia

24. TRUE LOVE WAYS, Buddy Holly
Along with "Peggy Sue Got Married" this was one of the very best
posthumous
Buddy Holly singles released

26. MR. MOTO, The Bel Airs
This appeared as #15 in my "Favorite Instrumentals Of 1961" post a while
back
"Catchy Ventures styled guitar based instrumental---take no notice of
the
1962 date in the YT clip. I had it as 1962 myself and included it in the
Fave Instrumentals list for that year on here. It’s actually from
DECEMBER 1961 (it was covered in that month by none other than oldtimer
star Vaughn Monroe. On Arvee it did not chart and was not issued in UK"

31. DANCE TO THE BOP, Gene Vincent & The Blue Caps
Decent Gene Vincent number from the 1958 movie "Hot Rod Gang" that also
featured three other Gene numbers - "Dance In The Street","Baby Blue"
and "Lovely Loretta". Over here this movie was retitled "Fury Unleashed"
(no I don't know why either). What I do know is that---to my
knowledge--it has NEVER played on UK TV (leastways not in my area). Does
it ever show on US TV?

36. LIFE IS BUT A DREAM, The Harptones
This GREAT number by The Harptones was used to terrific effect in one of
my all time favorite movies "Goodfellas" during the memorable
Henry/Karen wedding sequence
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwbfWR3VGuc

37. WHAT TIME IS IT, The Jive Five
Famously played in the Sopranos episode "Pax Soprana" during Tony's
erotic dream sequence featuring Dr Melfi

42. EARLY IN THE MORNING, The Rinky Dinks (Bobby Darin)
Exactly the same record but originally released in 1958 on the Brunswick
label attributed to "The Ding Dongs" and shortly afterwards--as
above--on Atco now credited to "The Rinky Dinks".
