Some people seem to think that the Universe is somehow “fine-tuned” to make life possible.
When I hear “fine-tuned for life”, I think of a cultivated garden -- now that is “fine-tuned for life”, by careful tending by its gardener(s). When we look out into our cosmos, do we see anything resembling a garden? No, what we see is more akin to a desert. Instead of evidence for life elsewhere being easy to spot all over the place, we are hard put to find it, after decades of trying.
The Universe is about as hostile to life as it can be, without making it altogether impossible.
