The native north americans had about 300 mutually-incomprehensible
languages. They had no written language. They lived to be on average
maybe 32 years old,  and about 25% of the males died in tribal
warfare.

They were mostly nomadic hunter-gatherers. With no horses or wheels or
pickup trucks or moving vans or casino limos, they had to carry
everything when they moved.

I wonder how many native americans have elected to live like their
pre-columbian ancestors.

My Irish ancestors were essentially slaves and had to make their way
to the USA, or starve. What do the Brits owe me?

That's all ancient history. Only the future matters.
