What /is/ the suggested protocol for responding to a post through
anther's followup? Sometimes you can pop back and find the post you're
responding to, but sometimes you can't, and sometimes you're think
you're going to respond to both authors but then you don't.
I would be tempted to change the attribution line to "Snipe quoted:"
because that respects the threading. Would you prefer that the
attribution line is removed completely, but the quoted portions retain
the full amount of guzintas? Is there something else you recommend?

Anything that made it plain that my contribution had been omitted would
be fine with me. When somebody's contribution is cut in its entirety I
would cut the relevant attribution too and substitute [...] in both
places as an indicator. If it was only a partial cut I would leave the
attribution and put [...] where words were cut from the text.
Sometimes I'm lazy and cut all attribs. except the most immediate one.
That happens if I select a portion of text before hitting 'followup'.
In that case I'd put [...] between that single attrib. and the selected
section of quoted text.
It's probably a sign of OCD but I do prefer a tidy post.
