The song "Daisy Bell" is heard in the famous "Death of HAL" scene in             _2001: A Space Odyssey_ (1968).

Crystal says that he "came over all emotional" on hearing this in the film, since he had heard it earlier from PAT (Parametric Artificial Talker), an early speech synthesis device at the University of Edinburgh. (Date not given; the movie's use of the song is usually explained by reference to a group at Bell Labs in 1961 using an IBM 7094.)
