- Iran"s physics team got one gold and four silvers, standing fourth from top, after China, Russia, and Romania's teams. 4th place is great :) In the past, with I think one exception, Iran was lower down between 10th to 20th from the top. China's team of course nailed it, like always. Russia did great, and I think in the past had reached 3rd to the top at best. But right now I'm using my memory and it might not be correct. Plus coffee hasn't kicked in yet.
Romania did great, and I think it was Romania that had the top score for single's last time. But I'm still half asleep and don't feel like digging into it.
It will take a long time before they publish the full report of the scores. Could be even a month or so.
- I had mentioned that the newly inaugurated railroad to China is to have two trains on either sides of Iran's border exchange their containers and go back. But it turns out that's not what they're doing now. The train from China, a beautiful new red and black colored train continued its way inside Iran and kept coming in, and Iran's train continued to China :)
These are "container" trains. No provisions for any interested passengers yet.
- Fish in Iran's rivers and shores are dying from heat. People just take those that are still moving and call it "fishing" :)
This is happening on north shores with Caspian also. Heat has reduced the amount of oxygen in the water below a level at which fish cannot live. For some reason heat is this year unusual across Iran. It reached 50 degrees Celsius in some spots.
