This is the first time for such action. It is Iraq's own military, not their militia. And there has been casualties.

Not to mention that U.S. bases in Iraq also, as of 2020 (Iraqi parliament vote) and as of late 2023 (Iraqi government informed those bases that they should wrap up and leave) have been illegally held in Iraq.
Some of them closer to Iran's border emptied their bases and left to Syria, but not all. Your military is still illegally inside Iraq. And when Iraqis are bombed too, by you or your lackeys, you're going to get the heat from Iraqi government now. Iraq's military will respond to them. Not just the Iraqi militia.
Adjust motherfuckers, or swallow all sorts of things coming to you.
"Legally" too :)
