An Iranian? In case you don't know, last time Iranians resorted to assassinations as a method, was before even Mongols got there. Iranians have had better ways to reach their goals since. They don't assassinate Nazis. They do better.
- A little less than three weeks back a 3 year old kid was kidnapped inside a city park in Tehran. The news of it and kid's pictures went viral in Tehran and other cities in Iran in an attempt to see if someone has noticed the little boy. Meanwhile, police of Tehran appealed to militia's technical capabilities to help find him. After 19 grueling days working 24x7 with the leads, etc, they caught the kidnappers who turned out to be two immigrant Afghani women with no papers, and took the kid back to her parents. The arrested women are facing charges involving prison terms and possible deportation after that. So gladly sexual abuse was not involved (Iran executes pedophiles, yes even female pedophiles - has done that before). They say it was the social media that helped the most in finding the kid.
Strange thing about the kidnappers is that they were a mother and daughter duo and were no criminals. Daughter being only 15 years old. When interviewed, they revealed that the kid didn't know where his parents were and they had tried hard to find them in the park but couldn't, so it got late and they took the kid to their home instead of informing the police, fearing deportation. Next day, they tried some more to see if they could find his parents somehow without involving the police and others, and could not do it. Kid couldn't help them with his address, parents' names, etc.
They couldn't give the kid to someone else either to take him to the police, cause they would easily trace it back to them for possible kidnapping scenarios. And they knew nobody else to help them with this. No friends, or relatives, etc.
By then, they said they had both quickly developed attachment to the kid too, and for his protection and their own protection from immigration authorities gradually yielded to the idea of keeping him! ...
So it is an unusual case and rather hard to judge. The reporters interviewing them (clips are out) were pretty hard on the two women but at the same time had 100% good points to do that, as they themselves were also adversely affected by this sad situation together with many people in the social media. And the two women were responding truthfully to any question. They had by then nothing to hide.
For Afghani women, going back to Afghanestan with Taleban ruling there is not a good option at all, especially when the woman is not married and her kid also is female. The 15 year old daughter dreaded it and had threatened her mother that if she'd give the kid to authorities she (the daughter) would flee the household to somewhere that she would not know, so authorities wouldn't able to find and deport her. So the mother was confronted with losing her daughter as well... Nevertheless, at the end of the day, it was a serious criminal act to keep the kid and not inform the police.
The young girl has Tehrani accent, so they've been in Tehran for some time. But mother talks with that sweet Afghani Persian accent :) The way Afghans use the Persian language is closer to the correct form, and sounds kind of sweet for a Tehrani person.
I hope for them getting the minimum sentences and especially their immigration papers get processed to grant them legality to avoid deportation.
