How does Usenet fit into the vision presented by Licklider and Taylor in
"The Computer as a Communication Device"?
UseNet fits into the vision inside
"The Computer as a comunication device", because even at the time,
The authors envision "on-line interactive communities"
of geographically separated members
connected by common interests rather than location.
This is very similar to how Usenet newsgroups function,
and the book already anticipated what
will become the blogs in the future.
LickLider and Taylor envisaged the potential
for users to share programs,
data, and ideas across a network.
This is just like how Usenet allows users to share
information through newsgroups
The authors also describe a "network of networks"
that interconnects various computer systems,
which is what decentralized systems were
well even before the concept of blockchains.
