That plugin is implemented as shell script, but probably easy to
translate.
Look one dir level up, there are some more plugins. IMO a browser
should not be a single protocol and single file type networked file
viewer. Dillo is good at not being this.
Emacs+Elpher seems not to be a bad choice too. I like that it runs in
TUI and GUI Emacs. But I'd prefer EWW and Elpher (maybe even FTP, SFTP,
... related Dired parts too) to be joined. Currently Emacs is an OS
with many independent browsers.
Elinks looks like a nice multi protocol browser too, but it still feels
a bit unfinished. Despite this I like Elinks.
