Posting here accomplished something. It got you to respond. For which I
am grateful. As you can probably gather, I have no idea how the mechanics
on those mailing lists work (or not work, as the case may be). That's why
I post here. As has been noted, in many ways over the years, that's why
Usenet continues to survive, despite widespread reports of its demise,
because us old farts don't want to have to deal with the BS that every
other form of social media (including, yes, including things like bug-gawk)
require you to learn.
Anyway, my post did eventually show up there, after about an hour or so, so
I guess all is well. Apparently, there is some kind of delay built-in to
the system (more than the advertised 15 minutes).
