 There /are/ proper higher level languages than both C and C++. You can use one to help develop a working application, then porting that part to C is a quicker, simpler and safer process.

Up there someone is asking about a valgrind leak they can't find.
Over in comp.lang.c++ we write wrappers around the memory management if we can't find a system class that will do it for us, and that's no longer an issue.
(There are still all sorts of memory problems, but if you are leaking you are doing Something Wrong.)
