1. As long as K&R precedences still hold you don't need the inner
parentheses; '<' and '<=' has higher precedence than '&' and '&&'.
While true, the parenthesis can be helpful to the reader
and have no adverse effects.
A couple of space characters would also not go amiss in aiding the reader.
