I believe he is employed by Red Hat at the moment, and is the co-maintainer of the C front-end for GCC as well as a Release Manager. He is also involved in the C standards themselves and has represented the UK at C standards meetings. He is regularly on the gcc mailing lists, and in discussions on bugzilla. Basically, he is one of the "big guns" in GCC.
