That's not actually the case. The Amish have slowly adopted more
advanced levels of technology as the people around them have adopted
farm more advanced ones. The important thing, from their point of view,
it not a particular level of technology, but to maintain a clear
distinction between them and the non-Amish.
Which means that they are more adaptable than Richard is.
They use a lot of C++, do they?
They do love power tools.
If you want to take down a tree in a hurry, a chainsaw is just the job, but more delicate work requires more delicate tools.
More to the point, if you have a million lines of legacy code all written in C90, it's a bloody good idea to keep a C90 compiler around because maintenance.
