Apparently our history will no longer be available after December 8 unless we do SOMETHING. The concept as well as the solution are glaringly unclear.
Supposedly unless I do SOMETHING I will (a) have no location timeline/services/history; (b) have no timeline/location services/history on my computer; (c) have no location timeline/services/history on any of my devices except <something>; (d) all of the above; (e) none of the above.
The instructions given were in no way applicable to my computer and I can't find the email warning now.
I chose to backup the location history on my phone to <whatever>. It seemed to be the only option. Is that what they wanted?
