I use Gmail and the Gmail app did come already installed.
The main problem I see with the Google Gmail app is in my tests long ago,
it does two egregious things which I personally can not put up with.
1. It _creates_ a Google Account on the phone (if no account existed),
2. It _uploads_ the default contacts sqlite database during that process.
Note: You can change, after the fact, the upload but in my tests
(admittedly long ago) you can't change it until the account is created and
since Google unilaterally created the account on the Android phone, Google
appears to have defaulted to thinking you want your contacts uploaded.
Suggestion if you can't fix it, get another
email app, there are sure lots more out there...
Long ago I tested every free email app available that I could find and
settled on FairEmail as probably the overall best when you take privacy
into account.
