0.27.1 was released yesterday, and now works for me.

Note that F-Droid appears to still have the older 0.27.0 version.

It worked for me, so both the 0.27.1 & 0.27.0 debug versions work.
Thanks for that recent update (which isn't in the XDA thread yet).
