"Keep" list app -- unable to move list items

(I would have posted this to one of the Google ng's ... except that I have never received ANY answer to ANYTHING I posted on those groups!)
I have created a List in Keep for Android.
I want to indent some items.
The online instructions

"On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Keep app.
"Choose a list.
"At the left of the item you want to indent, tap and hold Move [six dots].
"Drag the item to the right. To undo, drag it to the left.
"Note: You can’t indent the first item in the list.
It doesn't work.  I tap and hold the six dots and try to slide right ... and nothing happens.  I have tried repeatedly.  (And no, it's NOT the first item on the list.]
Any suggestions?
