This is just forwarding an article from the Windows side so that people
here are aware that they do NOT need to give Meta their (hashed) contacts.

Essentially, there are two easy ways I know of to NOT give Meta your
contacts, one of which is to install this Click to Chat freeware:

Also, that Windows article discusses how to install desktop Telegram
without installing it on the Android phone first. It's similar with WhatsApp (but much more complicated, so see the thread).
