I inherited my Dad's Samsung phone (not as old as your J5) and knew nothing of the credentials same as you, I wanted to wipe it and pass it on to a nephew.
Everything was pointing to it not being possible, but some combination of holding keys while standing on your head while powering it on did allow a factory reset and then setting up from scratch ... google for the exact model number not just J5, maybe be microscopic laser etching, or on a sticker inside the battery hatch if it's that old?
