The US is rather unique in people drifting away from mainstream churches
into various denominations? with questionable theology that tend to be
somewhere on the dispensationalist spectrum, rather than just drifting
away like many Europeans.

The condensed version is the Jews have to gather in Israel and rebuild the
temple before the anti-christ appears to usher in the tribulation befor
the rapture or something like that.

Full disclosure: I was raised Catholic before Vatican II. Tomorrow (Good
Friday) there was a special prayer for the conversion of the Christ-
killers before they burned in eternal hellfire.  I think the kindler,
gentler Church has toned it down if not eliminating it entirely.

However the political aspects do play an important part and it's important
to maintain proper thought at all times.
