I take a laptop on road trips where I may be staying in motels, but for
car camping my tech ends with a Kindle.

  Our 'camping' trips - in Australia - are (now: were :-() mostly three
months at a time, hence the 'need' for a laptop (smartphone(s), tablet
laptop and indeed an eReader).
