I don't know either. That's why I decided to try it and see.
AFAIK, the kernel build has no method for the user to pass
custom gcc flags.
Not for distro lackeys like you. Those of us comfortable
with the build system, which uses make(1), can tweak
it all we like.
You _should_ know make(1) if you're the programmer
you say you are -- or are you stuck with your distro,
