I have occasionally found method-chaining to be useful, particularly with
graphics APIs, e.g.

    (draw
        .close_path()
        .set_source_colour(bg_colour)
        .fill_preserve()
        .set_line_width(line_thickness)
        .set_source_colour(fg_colour)
        .stroke()
    )

If you want biz reports and checks printed - COBOL !

Could never handle proportional fonts and nice text layouts, though.
Python deals with those sorts of things better.
