Your timing results are quite interesting:
 
Suggests that the user space processes are consuming a significant
amount of CPU time, which might be expected depending on the workload
you’re running.

Those are the times for building the Linux source tree, which spends
most of its time running gcc.

It's a lot to compile -- I build a "kitchen sink" kernel -- but
"make -j64" does it in about six and a half minutes of
wall-clock time.
