I mean,
obviously if I were using a computer as part of a job, I'd have to use
spreadsheets and whatnot that I don't find especially entertaining,
but some people really make a hobby of doing rather mundane tasks.

This was just a goof to see how well ReNamer handled larger file counts.
But in the real world you often need to rename files to satisfy your own or your company's need for order and standardization.
At work I once inherited thousands of pictures of property interiors and exteriors, with random photo names assigned by the employees that took the pics.  They were impossible to search and sort.  So I standardized the naming system, communicated to the field employees how it worked, and enforced it in an Access app that required them to assign a standard name before uploading the pics.  From then on every pic that was uploaded to the doc mgmt system used that naming system, which made searching, sorting and filtering the photos very easy.
I also spent 2-3 full days renaming the existing thousands of photos. THAT was drudgery.
