Nowadays you're more likely to get help online from an unpaid MVP.
That's really an impressive thing Microsoft managed to accomplish. They
get highly trained expert being happy to help Microsoft for free.

I get free Linux help from the guy who shines my shoes, and the waiter
at El Torero.
Linux is open source, it's normal to contribute. Not every one is able
to develop. If you can't develop but can help others, you help
developers to focus on their development. So helping others is a way to
contribute.
Windows is the main product of a billion dollars company. Helping
Microsoft to get more money for free is a choice anyone can make. It's
their spare time, they do what they want in their spare time, I have
nothing to say about it. I won't but I won't stop anyone to do it. I'm
not judging.
Still, being able to find enough people willing to help for free so that
they don't need to pay a support and get more money is impressive.
