It was important to do years ago, it's useless now. Except if you want
to have issues with some drivers, there is no need to do it. For a
normal desktop I mean. Some usages can require it, but it's very rare. I
wouldn't consider a distro who requires me to compile anything to be
serious. It's a useless waste of time and ressources. On an embedded
device, sure it's important, but not on a desktop.

You are NOT an expert -- not even close. The above comment

However, _I_ am the expert, and when _I_ say it is best
to build the kernel then it is best.

You needed two and a half minutes, to do it, yes. So, when a new kernel
comes out, it comes with new options. Which have defaults. And the only
possibility to update your kernel in two minutes and thirty seconds is
to let the defaults.

Wrong yet again, retard.

Using "make oldconfig" I can set all new options in less than
30 seconds.

You always object because you are JEALOUS. You wish that you
could do the same but you cannot.
If I were considering moving to Linux, for the first time, it's
Stéphane's advice I'd be interested in, not yours. This is a group to
advocate the use of Linux. Your posts are a disservice.

Dobbs rewrites this, it is invalid precedent. States are
liable for denying needed abortions, e.g. TX.
