The other thing is if you're suspecting a drive is going bad, smartctl
can be used to verify that the drive _is okay_. Weenerbrane could have
used it to eliminate the drive as the failing component. But he's so
wound up with his own "greatness" that he can't see why gathering as
much evidence to diagnose a problem as possible only helps with
finding an eventual solution.
