After some BIOS tweaking I booted with the Gentoo Live USB.
Right now I'm in that stupid KDE desktop. What junk!
I need to use Gentoo to get the CPU parameters, especially
the cache sizes, so that I can cross compile a complete
system from scratch.
There will be no generic distro on this mighty machine!
This isn't yet a complete work. When you are _done_ with the machine the way you want and begin using it for the first time for purposes other than messing with the machine itself, that's when your Roman Empire shows itself after about one or two minutes of use :)
Pass that point unharmed, and I can zero in better with what the issue with my xeon computer is.
