Sure, but I think this argument applies only to exact sciences, and even there, only as long as features like "worry", "care", "analogy", ... haven't been fully implemented in it.
Right now (i.e. with what I see in ChatGPT) AI is only a superb language machine. I think the use of it in that field is gratifying. It knows many languages (including Persian) quite well. It both knows where a word can be used, and in what contexts, too. No dictionary + thesaurus combo has this service provided to you.
An example: Ask chatGPT what the origins of the word "zircon" are. It can list a good amount of information on that. But it stops there. It does not give you even a hint of, say, why zircon suddenly became very important among scientists. To access that, you need to be a scientist too to ask for it :) Then, you'll see that he knows and tells you a lot about why zircon is important in science.
The example above shows AI's present productive use as well is its _present_ shortcomings (requiring that you be a scientist in the example above) in telling you more about it.
I bet a thing like a much better AI than chatGPT exists but is not accessible by public. THAT machine would also tell you why zircon became important starting around late 1950s :)
